When does CanSat registration open?
Registration for each new season opens in mid-September. The 2025–26 season is currently underway. Contact us if you'd like to register a team mid-season.
Do we need prior electronics experience?
No! The Beginner CanSat category is designed for students with no prior electronics or programming experience. Our tutorial video series guides you through every step.
Is there a cost to participate in CanSat?
The Beginner CanSat kit is provided free of charge. Advanced teams are responsible for travel costs for the Lethbridge launch campaign. Contact us to discuss any financial barriers.
Can teams from remote or small schools participate?
Absolutely — CSDCMS actively welcomes all Canadian schools regardless of size or location. CanSat kits are mailed directly to your team.
How does the CubeSat challenge work for universities?
It's a 2-year programme starting each September. Teams design and build a satellite with industry mentorship, concluding in a simulated launch at the CSA facility in Ottawa.Learn more →

Can I volunteer as a judge or mentor?
Yes! We're always looking for space industry professionals to serve as mentors, judges at design reviews, or volunteers at launch events.
How do I donate to CSDCMS?
